NEWS:

FROM PITCHFORK MAGAZINE:
Hey hey! There's a new Os Mutantes tribute album out today!
Jardim Elétrico: A Tribute to Os Mutantes features fifteen different artists tackling tracks from all over the catalog of the highly-influential, stupendously great Brazilian psych-pop experimentalists.

You'll likely get quite a kick out of contributions by the Earlies, Jennifer Gentle, Residual Echoes, and Sean Lennon and Yuka Honda (Cibo Matto), as well as White Flag's take on "Mysterious White Roses," a Mutantes gem that never made it to a proper album but did show up in a 1968 film. The disc features an insert poster drawn by Mutant Arnaldo Baptista, which we'd wager might look pretty cool under a blacklight. All this can be yours from Italian label Madcap Collective.

There's also a clause in this here press release suggesting this album was made available at all Os Mutantes tour dates. Since those suckers have, for the time being, come and gone, you may already own this album. If not, get to searchin'!

01 Stop the Wheel: "Top Top"
02 Jennifer Gentle: "Panis et Circenses"
03 Father Murphy: "Ave Lucifer"
04 Sean Lennon and Yuka Honda: "Trem Fantasma"
05 White Flag: "Mysterious White Roses"
06 Tater Toz: "Bat Macumba"
07 Littlebrown: "Senhor F."
08 Residual Echoes: "A Minha Menina"
09 Wondermints: "Arnaldo Said"
10 Pillars and Tongues: "Magica"
11 Oswald: "Dois Mil e Um"
12 Gomma Workshop: "O Relogio"
13 Franklin Delano/GRES Unidos Do Berimbau: "Adeus, Maria Fulo"
14 The Earlies: "Ave Gengis Khan"
15 Fabio Recco & Bia Mendes: "Tecnicolor (Beto Salmon Remix)"

HOT NEWS! Pat Smear, of the recently reunited legendary band THE GERMS, (and late of Nirvana and Foo Fighters), has autographed a guitar he used on Foo Fighters' tours and recordings, and has given it to his "namesake", White Flag's guitarist Pat FEAR, to take on White Flag's Tour of Italy, which begins in Rome on February 5th.

Pat FEAR has also signed the guitar, and will play it in Italy, and then GIVE IT AWAY on stage to whomever he thinks qualifies as "the biggest White Flag and Germs fan in Italy"
.

Pats Smear and Pat Fear have known each other since the seminal days of 1977 Los Angeles punk, and Pat Smear played guitar as a guest on White Flag's most recent CD, "Eternally Undone". Germs' drummer Don Bolles also co wrote a song and did guest vocals on the CD, along with Rancid's Tim Armstrong and Hole's Eric Erlandson.

The two "Pats" have also released several records in a side project "Tater Totz" which also featured members of Redd Kross, Frightwig, The Runaways, and Danny Bonaduce of The Partridge Family.

Pat Fear is also working as a technical advisor ( along with the three original Germs) on the currently in production Germs bio pic, "What We Do Is Secret".

We here at White Flag have just been informed of the sad news of the recent passing on Thursday of last week of: Randy "Biscuit" Turner Former lead singer of groundbreaking Texas "skate punk" band The Big Boys.

Details are unknown to us at this time to we here at the site, but we will update with any relevant information including where condolences or charity donations may be sent, if one has indeed been established.

White Flag had the good fortune of sharing the stage with The Big Boys once in the very early 1980's, at the terrifyingly dangerous East L.A. club The Vex. It was, to this day, one of the most exciting and memorable shows of our 20 some year career, entirely due to Biscuit and his cohorts' indescribably great performance.

Our condolences to Randy's family, and his fellow Big Boys. His like will most likely not be seen again in our lifetimes.

Steveo, original singer of the Vandals and the "Big Bopper" of punk, has also passed away.
