WHITE FLAG VIDEO CONTEST! Like the band? Hate the band? Have some sort of ability (not necessarily talent...) to make a video? WELCOME TO THE FIRST WHITE FLAG "Make a video at your own expense to one of our songs and maybe get it on our Japanese DVD" contest! Here's the stuff you need to know: You gotta make a video for one of our songs, PREFERABLY from the latest record "ETERNALLY UNDONE." We are doing a DVD in Japan of a video for every song, so we thought you the fans might want to get involved. RULES, REWARDS, NO-NO's and STUFF: NO "quality control" Your work will be judged on it's artistic merit, not George Lucas's budget! NO LOSERS! Every video will be considered, the best (even more than one video for the same song) will be on the DVD, and the rest on this website! NO HARD FEELINGS: We appreciate all efforts, but you can't expect us to release a 10 DVD set... REWARDS: EVERYONE who enters (unless it's a joke entry you spent no time on, [which now that we think of it, might be one of the best...) will get a DVD, even if they're not on it. Those winners who end up on the DVD will get full credit for their production, and some special surprise WF collectibles... WORST VIDEO will get something special too... NO-NO's: NOTHING ILLEGAL! This means stolen from other videos (royalty free stock footage usage is okay...just not real or OBVIOUS stuff (hint hint) like TV shows etc.), or underage weirdness or nudity ( we're not prude, just not interested in perverts or jail time...in Japan no less...well, perverts are okay, but we draw the line at kiddie porn...) NOTHING that will get anyone involved in trouble, this include YOUR PARENTS GETTING MAD, so if they would, you'll have to be punk rock sneaky and hide the DVD from them... NO insane stalker weirdoes, please....we have enough of those...we appreciate them but don't necessarily want them freaking out about royalties and non extant things like that... STUFF: The video doesn't HAVE to be "about" the song's lyrics, but that'd be neat if it were! We'd love to have some animated ones, Animae or even crude sub -South Park computer animation (or claymation!!) puppets, etc. You get the idea. Creepier the better! Nothing is "too amateur"! Check out the "Suicide King" and "Joey Chip" videos here on or website. If you have live footage of us from any era, we'd love to see it and feel free to use it in your production! THEMES: Well it's open season, but we like the kind of scary or creepy Sci-Fi new wave Orwellian dramatic Lidsville Illuminati New World Order Far Out Space Nuts Vampires stuff as a rule..or PUNK! Or ART! Or a blank screen! USE US! Most of us live in California. If you have some big idea and want the band to be in it we can probably oblige if you live or want to shoot in So Cal. Some of our friends might want to be in it too, and you never know who that might mean...Anywhere else, well, we will accept coach class tickets in this case this one time... WRITE US! If you have done stuff and have a website or a CD or DVD you can send us that'd be great and give us some idea of what to look forward too! When you have something done, write us and we'll tell you where to send it! Previews via email will be great, but our email can't handle anything over 16 MB file size, so make the clip that size or less... BE FROM SOMEPLACE INTERESTING! We've played weird places, so if you're from someplace that would seem exotic to us or the Japanese, let's see it! GET STUFF: We can supply lyrics, pictures, footage of band members, songs if you don't have the CD, anything else you might think of you'd need...ask! SUBMIT: Write us and tell us your ideas, song choice, needs, plans, time to completion, and that sort of stuff. We need it in: NTSC Hi8, VHS in NTSC or PAL video, both in ANALOG format, not digital if you can help it! Mini DV if you have to, but that may make us hate it before we see it as it's a big pain to get a player (since we don't have one), video CD in Quicktime .dv file, .avi files or some other format that is rippable from a burned DVD to desktop, and finally, a DVD that would play in any DVD player is a LAST RESORT as they are IMPOSSIBLE to deal with when trying to make a compilation...if you have questions about this, ask. TELL: your friends who may not know us, or better yet, HATE the band, we really would like to see what THEY come up with!
